Among all with the various buildings I’ve visited, one that holds a particular place in my soul may be the palace that houses one among my preferred chandeliers – The Palais Garnier in Paris. Incidentally my favorite Broadway show was also written close to this masterpiece, The Phantom of the Opera. The Palais, The Broadway Show and this post have one thing in widespread – all three have a Chandelier highlighted in some way.
The opulence of the theater is magnified by one of the most brilliantly crafted antique chandeliers you will be able to find anywhere in the world. It blends so very intimately with the rest of the surroundings at the Palais Garnier and serves absolutely to elevate its ambiance of regalia and class.
In case it occurs to you why I would be thinking of something inane as the chandelier instead of the entertainment on stage, well you have a point. But it is because I am in the midst of considering a new chandelier for the house. The range of comments from the suggestions I have received have bordered on the nutty.
The bottom line and the end all off the debate is that I believe the chandelier does not carry the home, aesthetically speaking. If it were, you could have any old house and expect a chandelier to magically transform it into a Victorian Castle. At the same time neither is it totally devoid of having an effect. Bus as a wise man told, me the truth is somewhere in between.
That little nugget of advice seems to be gaining moment in my mind and so I have stated to think about chandeliers that complement rather than looking for a chandelier that is grand in the hopes it will elevate the aesthetics. The more I think about it the more it makes me see the wisdom in having a chandelier that suites the home and a home that suites the chandelier If no the whole thing is just going to fall flat.
The effect of the grandeur of the chandelier in the home is unprecedented as it is undisputed. But the effect it has on the home is both symbiotic and individually luxurious. Its choice displays a sens of class on the home and by extension the owner. It is like being at a dinner and choosing a fine bottle of wine.
