Landscape Lighting: Old and New

Aside from using trays of flame – something you see in movies depicting the old roman coliseums, Landscape Lighting and Home Lighting is something that could be designed in numerous creative ways. There are a few elements you have to take into consideration prior to you embark on a challenge that could very well take the entire summer to complete. For this I am using my yard as an example that measures approximately 1000 square feet.

What I wanted to do with the landscape lighting is have waves of light wash the sides of the house. Short of placing a projector outside I couldn’t figure on what lighting would create that effect. So in the end I had simple low energy outdoor lighting that was waterproof and submerged that in a shallow pond that ran along both sides of the house. The submerged lights refracted throughout the surface of the water and moved waves across the entire height and breadth of the wall. It was a simple use of landscape lighting, but used in an imaginative way that made that the talk of the street among my neighbors.

The other thing I did was attache low heat Chandeliers as part of my landscape lighting venture. These reduced heat lamps had been utilized as up-lighters for the trees. The lights have been low-glare at the same time and we pointed inside the trees that created it glow from inside with out it being too bright or hot enough for it to wilt the tree.

With that done it supplied adequate light for 2 things. One, in the event there was any motion in the lawn, it could effortlessly observed from inside the home and second, a lot more importantly, the home suddenly looked stately. The whole physical exercise didn’t price too a lot and the energy consumption was negligible. It even looks great now when the sprinklers go off in the evening and the light shimmers of the spray, you can see mini rainbows simply because the light refracts via it. There might be a time time when I get used to seeing mini rainbows throughout my entrance lawn and reflections that look like they had been made by a stream going passed my house, but for now that point is nowhere close to.

The king of this is really the unsung hero that I paid very little for – the landscape lighting. The landscape lighting I purchased was sourced online and I read everything I needed to and put my ideas to paper. It took me the entire summer to do it, mostly because I had other things planned as well, but the key thing was the lighting. The house, really does look a lot better than it did last spring.

The Landscape Lighting project was something I really enjoyed and I get the feeiling I will do something with the roof lights to maybe highlight the roof a little. I may be going over board here byt, the ights have just made sucha difference. It makes me look forward to christmas and wonder what magic I can di with the lights then.
