If you have a home office within your home, there are two things you need to seriously consider when refurbishing or renovating it. The design and continual functioning of your home office will go a long way in keeping your back and eyes healthy and efficient. Every job, whether you’re a fighter pilot, a rock blaster or even an office worker – even if you do work at home, faces work hazards. Off course, working at a more dangerous job presents more obvious outcomes.
Credible scientific research has conclusively proven that specific hazards exist in the home office environment, there are two in particular.. The two are, improper lighting that affects the eyes and improper seating that affects the back.
It’s important to sit comfortably with the light at a safe distance from your reading material and emanate the proper luminosity. If it is too bright or too dim, they’re both detrimental for the eyes. To help focus the light at the right spot and not in a way that it is glaring, make sure your table lamp is able to swivel and flex. Your chair has to be comfortable as well and allow your eyes to view properly and assist with maintaining a good posture so that there is sufficient blood flow to the head. Convex-type seat contours can alleviate pressure on the back of the thighs. If your chair has seat depth controls, you can adjust the front edge of the chair so it’s 2-3 inches from the back of your knees. If the back of your legs touch the edge of the seat, you’ll be unable to lean against the chair’s back support.
Look for a table lamp or floor lamp lighting with an adjustable swivel that raises or lowers the head and has the ability to telescope as well to adjust the height. If you are able to find one that can flex, all the better. Remember, the more a table lamp can be positioned, the less you have to accommodate it by moving to an uncomfortable position and ruining your eyes. Reclining rests the back muscles, while a forward tilt encourages good back posture and takes the stress off the muscles and discs of the spine. Use the tilt function in your chair to adjust for your specific body weight by adjusting the level of resistance.
You may also consider combining the effect of having table lamps with matching floor lamps. If you place the floor lamp in the proper place, it will provide jus the right effect and complete the aesthetics of the room while remaining functional as well. The effect on the eyes is without doubt as it relaxes the eyes and allows optimal luminosity. If you don’t like the rest of the room being dark, install a couple of floor lamp lighting and dim them so it illuminates the room but not in a ay that is glaring.
Health and Safety is not just about eating right or looking down both sides of the street before crossing. It even includes, most certainly, the health and safety of your eyes and back. Choose a proper chair and the best table lamps lighting to stay healthy.
