Guards! Guards! Book Review:

Guards! Guards!, published in 1989, was Terry Pratchett's eighth Discworld novel. It ws the first to feature the City Watch cast. The first computer game based on the Discworld was largely based on the plot of Guards! Guards!

Books Summary
The Unique and Supreme Lodge of the Elucdated Brethren of Ebon Night, a secret broterhood, is scheming to overthrow Ankh-Morpork's patrician and install a puppet king, controlled by the Supreme Grand Master, who happens to be the patrician's sectetary Lupine Wonse. With the aid of a stolen book of magic, the secret brotherhood manage to summon a dragon that strikes fear into the people of the city.

It becomes the task of the men of the Night Watch to stop them. But the Night Watch is in terrible shape and first they must get themselves together and organized before they can deal with outside inconveniences such as criminals. The arrival of the new Night Watch volunteer Carrot Ironfoundersson changes all that.

In the end, the Night Watch saves the day, Lord Vetinari is reinstated as Patrician and promises the men of the Night Watch anything they want. All they ask for is a small raise, a dart board, and a new kettle.
